Awesome Venison Chili
Whether you are at deer camp, or getting ready for the evening game, sometimes you just want to kick back, relax and let the food make itself. This is a good one to bring the slow-cooker out and let it do all the work making awesome venison chili while you enjoy a tasty adult beverage.
I love making this at Christmas time… although Santa has now quit visiting me… I have no idea why? 😉
(Serves 8 people)
1 pound Cubed Venison Steak
1 pound Ground Beef
1 liter Bloody Mary Mix
16 ounces Diced Tomato Sauce
16 ounces Dark Red Kidney Beans (drained)
16 ounces Pinto Beans (drained)
1 cup Yellow Onion (chopped)
1/4 cup Green Onion (chopped)
1/4 cup Red Onion (chopped)
1/4 cup Chili Powder
1 1/2 teaspoons Ground Cumin
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
1/2 teaspoon White Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano
1/8 teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper
1.) Chop venison into bite size cubes
2.) Brown all meat in a large iron skillet (don’t forget to grease the skillet with non-stick spray or butter)
3.) Drain grease and add to slow cooker with all other ingredients
4.) Cook on low for 8 hours
5.) Serve with chili corn chips or saltine crackers.
If you are pressed for time: After browning the meat, then put all ingredients into a large pot. Bring to boil and then lower to simmer and let cook for 1.5 hours.
