When you think of grilling food on the barbecue, you probably think of burgers, hot dogs, and chicken. However, there’s a lot more food you can grill, including amazing desserts that your guests will rave about. Here are seven amazing grilled desserts that will have your mouth watering for more.

1. Dessert Pizza

Grilled pizza is a recent craze but it’s stayed in the realm of main course so far. There are so many amazing dessert pizza pies you can make from gooey chocolate to mascarpone and fresh berries for a lighter and fresher option. The grill will soften the fruit and bring out their sweetness even if they’re not perfect to begin with. Use whatever fruits you want on your pizza, but bear in mind that juicier fruits might give you a soggy crust.

2. Grilled Dessert Nachos

Yes, nachos can be a dessert food too. Create nachos that are covered in chocolate, caramel, and pecans and it’ll taste like a candy bar on a crunchy base of chips. You can just buy corn chips for a simpler option and the salt mixes in nicely with the sweetness of the toppings. Put the chips in a disposable pan, add cinnamon sugar and the toppings your want, then cover and cook until the chocolate is melted. Once you have these nachos, you’ll never go for the cheesy version again!

3. Grilled Banana Splits

Create a sundae on the grill by grilling up your fruit beforehand. As explains food blogger Melissa Scarlet, from UK Top Writers and Best British Essays, “halve your bananas without peeling them, drizzle them with honey and brown sugar. The bananas will caramelize in a few minutes, then take them out of their peels and add them to your sundae. Don’t forget to include hot fudge and rum caramel sauce for the true sundae experience.”

4. Grilled Strawberry Shortcake

This is a really easy 5 ingredient dessert that you’re going to want to go to every time you have guests over. Macerate strawberries in balsamic vinegar and just a pinch of black pepper. This creates a powerful sauce when the acid brings the liquid from the fruit. You won’t regret this combination. Grill your shortcake on the barbecue then drizzle the top with your juice.

5. Grilled Raspberry Cheesecake Turnovers

Cheesecake is a superb dessert option, but it often takes a lot of planning to bake and chill. This option is a lot quicker to prepare and just as amazing. You’ll end up with a crisp crust and a gooey interior that will make you never choose a real cheesecake ever again. Simply mix some cream cheese in with lemon zest, sugar, and vanilla extract, smear that mixture onto quartered pie crusts, add some jam on top, fold it onto itself, and seal up the edges. Grill them until each side is golden, then enjoy!

6. Grilled Pineapple Soaked in Rum

This is an extremely easy option. All you need to do is mix in rum, brown sugar, and cinnamon, then add your sliced pineapple. Let the fruit marinate in this mixture for a while, then put the pineapple rings on the grill for a few minutes. Serve the grilled pineapple with ice cream if you want, and don’t forget to drizzle the rest of the sauce on top for an amazing, easy, sweet treat. A suggestion from Maggie Thatcher, a lifestyle writer at Revieweal and Best Australian Writers, is that “if you want to make an alcohol-free version, you can use apple juice instead of rum. You can also use different fruits instead of pineapple if you prefer, like peaches or mango – they’re all amazing.”

7. Grilled Pound Cake

This is yet another simple option which goes wonderfully with an espresso chocolate sauce. Create the sauce in just a few minutes with espresso powder. Your pound cake should be drizzled in orange juice before putting it on the grill for a little bit. Serve the cake with your chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and some ground nuts on top. It’ll look fancy but be really easy to make.

Any of these options will make you the best host at your next backyard grill, simply fire up the grill and enjoy!
