Burgers on the GrillJanuary 20, 2015
Simple and Tasty… those are two things you want on game day, whether you are grilling in the backyard or outside the stadium. Great tailgating burgers don’t need to be overly complex. With just a couple of additions, you can turn your meal into something that people will talk about all week.
So with no further beating about the briquettes, here is an easy recipe that will turn a “ho-hum backyard burger” into a “juicy grilled patty of triumphal meaty glory”.
3 pounds Ground Beef
1/2 Cup Sweet Onion (chopped)
2 Cups Oatmeal
4 Large Eggs
1 ounce Lawry’s® Seasoned Salt (linky)*
1 ounce Northwoods 12 Pepper Blend Seasoning
American, Cheddar, Swiss, Marble Jack Cheese
Ketchup & Mustard
1) In a huge bowl, mix beef, chopped onions, oatmeal, eggs and seasonings thoroughly with hands and form into 1/3 pound patties.
TIP: Make these up the night before and place patties in layers between wax paper. Gallon zip lock bags make great containers for traveling.
2) Preheat grill to approx. 500 degrees then Lower heat to 350 and place burgers directly on grill, cooking 15-20 minutes flipping half way through.
3) When you have about 2 minutes left add a slice of American cheese to each burger and allow to melt.
4) Assemble burgers and eat.
