How to make the Greatest Tailgating Hamburgers in the WorldOctober 17, 2014
This is not a Tribute, these are arguably THEE Greatest Tailgating Hamburgers in the World*, unless you don’t like bacon… in which case we can no longer be friends so please show yourself the heck out.
For the rest of you… welcome!
Prepare to amaze your friends & family while I show you how to take your backyard or tailgating grilling skills to the next level with a simple yet awesome way of preparing and grilling your burgers.
(Makes 8 Burgers)
2 Pounds Lean Ground Beef
1 Pound Bacon (chopped or ground)
1 Cup Oatmeal
1/2 Cup Onion (chopped)
8 Hamburger Buns
A Pinch of Salt, Pepper & Paprika per burger
Oh.. and one more pound of BACON!
1.) Take all that awesome ground beef and put it in a large bowl.
2.) Finely chop (or grind up) the best bacon you can find and add to the bowl. (BIRTHDAY HINT: I need a new meat grinder)
3.) Stop salivating and chop a yellow onion in half, and then in half again. Chop that baby up until you have 1/2 cup and put in the bowl.
4.) Add eggs.
5.) Add the oatmeal.
6.) Mash everything together with your hands. Make sure to mix thoroughly. This part is a lot like finger-painting like you did back in kindergarten… don’t be ashamed, just enjoy it. Make into palm sized meatballs.
7.) Then make into burger patties and Fire up the grill.
8.) Grill Burgers on medium heat 350 for 15 minutes, flip at the 10 minute mark… then sprinkle with Seasonings.
OPTIONAL: at the 14 minute mark add a slice of cheese or two
9.) Remove from heat and let rest two minutes before serving topped with MOAR bacon.
