Homemade McRib Burger Recipe
June 1, 2014I know why you are here…. you miss the McDonald’s McRib. Yes, I understand. (sigh)
You miss that wonderful messy and ever so tangy rib-shaped mystery meat served to you “fresh” on a steak roll (for a limited time, of course).
Well, I have a super simple grilling recipe that will knock your pork-loving socks off so you can crank out an even better version of this national favorite. Follow these easy steps and you can make your very own McRib anytime you have a craving… right on your own grill!
In fact, let’s make it a McAwesome McTailGate McMaster DOUBLE McRib !
(For 5 people)
2 pounds Ground Pork
2 tablespoons Cabela’s Garlic & Beer Seasoning
1/2 cup Sliced Sweet Onion
1/2 cup Pickles
5 Steak Rolls or Hamburger Buns
5 parts Famous Dave’s Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce
- Mix ground pork with Cabela’s Open Season Spice Blends Roasted Garlic & Beer Seasoning.
- Form mixture into 10 thin (1/4 inch high) round patties. Yes, I said thin. Don’t worry. You can have more than one if you want. 😉 If you are using steak rolls, make your patties longer and narrow to fit the bread. You can make these ahead of time and freeze, which makes it handy for traveling to your tailgate.
- Grill pork patties for 10 minutes (at 450F) turning once at the 7 minute mark.
- Serve on bun.
- Top with Famous Dave’s Sweet and Tangy BBQ sauce, sweet onions and pickles…. and for good measure top with another patty and more bbq sauce!
Yah know… for as much as I love the dead pig… I really should call this “the McBIGGUN”. 🙂
