Pro Bowl Pork Loin Burger
January 14, 2014So you want to do something special for the football game and you can’t do the hula? Well why not embrace your inner Tailgate Master along with the Hawaiian theme this weekend and craft this wonderful (although messy) hunka-hunka burning yum!
Yes, I know, I know… a boneless pork chop served on a bun is not technically a burger… more of a Pro Bowl Pork Loin Sandwich … but heya… it’s my creation and I’ll call it what I want. DON’T JUDGE ME!!! (breaths deeply) O.K…. I feel better now… Let’s get to it.
(For 8 people)
2 pounds Sliced Pork Loin
12 ounces LAWRY’S® Hawaiian Marinade
1 pound Thick Sliced Bacon
3/4 pound Cole Slaw
20 ounces Sliced Pineapple
8 UN-sliced Buns
12 ounces Famous Dave’s Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce
1.) Slice pork loin into 3/4 inch wide “chops” and marinade for at least 2 hours with Lawry’s Hawaiian Marinade (I like to refrigerate and marinade for a day). Make sure remove from fridge at least an hour before they see your grill.
2.) Preheat grill to 350
3.) While waiting, get the rest of your ingredients ready and slice buns (don’t use pre-sliced buns on this one… trust me).
4.) Grill pork chops for 20-25 minutes turning half-way through and at the same time as the chops, cook bacon on a griddle or in an aluminum pan.
5.) Optionally (but recommended) toast buns (approx. 2 minutes).
6.)Assemble ingredients into “burgers” bun / pork / pineapple / sauce / bacon / slaw / bun.
Make sure to stock up on paper towels… messy but OH SO GOOD!
