Smoky Cheddar Jalapeño Poppers
May 8, 2015This may be a bit of of a shock, but I am not a huge fan of the cream cheese. I have longed to find a great Jalapeño popper appetizer using something other than cream cheese as the primary ingredient, but alas… i have been less than successful. Well… I didn’t let that get me down so i decided to try some experimenting on my own… and this was the result.
Get ready for a great tailgating first course… Jalapeño Poppers… smoky cheddar style!
6 LARGE (Big Honking) Jalapeño peppers
6 Pack of Smoked Cheddar Brats
Thin Sliced Bacon
1 Pinch of Seasoned Salt
Slice ends of those peppers (set them aside) and hollow out the insides (a butter knife works pretty good here)
Slide brat gently into pepper (no impure thoughts here…. just enjoy the experience while you stuff that baby in there)
Cut off the top of the brat even with the end of the pepper and reattach the pepper’s top
Wrap the entire appetizer with bacon and hold in place with skewer. One strip of bacon per pepper. Sprinkle seasoning over bacon and place on grill.
Continue to Grill over indirect heat at about 300-325 until the peppers are hot and juicy and the bacon is browned, 30 to 40 minutes.
Remove and serve hot… be the envy of your rivals.
